Review:  3.75 of 5 stars

I am not going to lie.  This cover made me want to read this book.  And once I read the synopsis it intrigued me.  I love it when a book has elements that are different from others and the PI firm sounded like a fun twist to me!

This book is told mainly from the point of view of Evelyn Harpie, Evie for short.  She is a really genuine and sweet character.  I connected with her character and really enjoyed her story.  When she loses her job unexpectedly and decides to start a PI service with her friend Jon she struggles with the decision and thinks it will just be a fun hobby until a "real job" comes around.  There first client ends up being a high profile, wealthy woman that has the potential to make or break their business. The client wants Evie and Jon to look into a guy she is interested in pursuing as a husband.  When this case breaks open, the story gets really interesting.

Jon, a long time friend of Evie's, has recently left the Army and is trying to get used to civilian life again.  He really enjoys working as a PI and is good at it.  He has been friends with Evie and her best friend, Kate since they were all kids.  He struggles with his feelings for both of his best friends and is trying to sort out his emotions.  How will he handle the first cases they get?  We get to see a few chapters from Jon's POV as well.

This is a debut novel from Ms. Shea.  I enjoyed the book and thought it was well-written.  It was a fun read that had a great storyline and plot. It was a little predictable, but the characters were easy to love and connect with so I didn't mind that at all.  I would have preferred the entire book from Evie's POV because for me, I didn't feel like I needed to hear anything from Jon for the story to flow.  However, I understand why she did it so that it leads into book 2 easier.  Overall, if you're looking for a cute, fun book to enjoy you should one click it now.

*I was given an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
