Synopsis
It was 1995 in the Southern California wasteland. I was barely legal and far from innocent. I loved the Gun Club more than I loved Walter, my high school sweetheart. He was the only person who knew why I stopped singing and playing guitar after what happened to me when I was 16. But even an engagement ring couldn’t save us after what he did to me that one afternoon. I used to worry that college would come between us, but I never thought it would happen on move-in day. That was the day I met Franz : a tall, handsome 23-year-old ex-jock from Germany. He was so not my type, but the more I got to know him, the more I knew he was the right guy for me. And after Walter betrayed me for the last time, it was time for me to break up with him and be with Franz for good. I never thought he’d be a safe place for me to explore my darkest sexual fantasies. Nor that he’d be a kindred spirit who knew exactly what it felt like when someone ridiculed your musical aspirations. We gonna start playing music together and be who were meant to be. Nothing and no one was gonna stop us. Not even Walter. Note: This is the standalone sequel to Miss World, which was self-published in 2011, and takes place a month later.

Promo Post: Better When He's Bad, by Jay Crownover

So you’ve met Rule, Jet, Rome, and soon Nash! But there’s a new boy in town, along with a new series, by Jay Crownover. Better When He’s Bad (Welcome to the Point #1) is a new adult novel scheduled for publication on June 17, 2014, by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing. This is how Jay describes her new novel/series:

“It’s dark and dangerous and set in a fictitious underworld/bad part of town. The men in all of the books are way more along the line of being anti-heros than true leading men. I guess the easiest way to sum them up is by saying the books are all about the choices these characters have to make and the outcomes and results of those decisions. Bax’s book is all about having to make the hard choices and what becomes of him and his lady in doing so. They are super fun, very atmospheric and I think really what writing a bad boy should be like if you’re going to do it :)”

Look in the back of Nash’s book to find the first chapter of “Better When He’s Bad.”

Synopsis
Welcome to the Point There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter. Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way. Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced. Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that. I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

Synopsis
In ABOVE chosen for the March 2014 Indie Next List, award- winning author Isla Morley crafts a stunning and harrowing novel about a Kansas teenager who is abducted and locked away in an abandoned missile silo by a conspiracy theorist who believes the end of the world is coming. Blythe Hallowell is sixteen when she is abducted by a survivalist and locked away in an abandoned missile silo in Eudora, Kansas. At first, she focuses frantically on finding a way out, until the harrowing truth of her new existence settles in—the crushing loneliness, the terrifying madness of a captor who believes he is saving her from the end of the world, and the persistent temptation to give up. But nothing prepares Blythe for the burden of raising a child in confinement. Determined to give the boy everything she has lost, she pushes aside the truth about a world he may never see for a myth that just might give meaning to their lives below ground. Years later, their lives are ambushed by an event at once promising and devastating. As Blythe’s dream of going home hangs in the balance, she faces the ultimate choice —between survival and freedom. ABOVE is a riveting tale of resilience in which “stunning” (Daily Beast) new literary voice Isla Morley compels us to imagine what we would do if everything we had ever known was taken away. Blog Tour and Review: Bender, by Stacy Borel

Bender Blog Tour Banner

Synopsis
All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.
Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal business, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.
Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.
To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.

Review
4 out of 5 stars

Keegan, a college junior, has been living at home and practically raising her 8 year old sister.  Even before her sister was born she was always more of an adult than a kid, forced to learn to defend for herself, as her young mother just wasn't ready to grow up.  But, it's becoming too much.  Her grades are slipping and she's worried she won't be accepted into nursing school because between juggling classes, her job and taking care of her sister she just doesn't have the time to focus, she's fed up.  Her best friend encourages her to look for an apartment and move out.  It's time she find her own life and thus the apartment hunting begins.  An appointment with a guy named Dodger is her 3rd stop and after her first two nightmare options his place look's too good to be true and just as she is signing the lease in walks her new roommate, Camden.

Camden is the total hot alpha male package and it seems as though he is on a mission to make Keegan's life miserable!  In an effort to keep her from getting to close he is constantly throwing insults her way, parading women in an out of the apartment who Keegan feels she will never measure up to, he's distant and often has an angry attitude towards Keegan.  He's doing his best to make her feel uncomfortable, to challenge her, to break her spirit.  But to his surprise everything he throws her way she not only takes, but stands strong, calls him out and challenges his every demand.  She isn't going to just roll over and let's be honest what guy isn't going to be intrigued???

Sexual tension between these two is running rampant.  Yet no matter what Camden throws at her, Keegan cannot deny her attraction to him.  Slowly the more she learns about Camden the harder he is to resist.  He makes her feel protected and safe, but how could a guy like him ever be interested in someone as plain as herself?

I definitely enjoyed this story!  I think Keegan is a character so many of us women can relate to.  She is fiercely independent, she works hard and wants to make it on her own.  She is also driven, she has a goal and is working her butt off to achieve her dream.  She is caring and nurturing, she loves her sister and will stop at nothing to ensure she is well taken care of and can have somewhat of a normal childhood.  Also, like so many of us Keegan also struggles with her self confidence.  While she knows she doesn't have a supermodel's body she is tries to be happy in her own skin.  And when she finds herself embarrassed and taken advantage of you completely understand her emotions, her tears and her actions because their the same one you would probably go through as well if you were in her shoes.  When she thinks she is in over head, when she tries to protect her heart yet you want her to just get over it and take a chance you totally get why she doesn't because once again if we were in her shoes we would probably do exactly what she does!  Stacy really nailed her character and I absolutely loved how she constantly stood up for herself!

Camden, my oh my!  Camden is one hot mess!  Boy did he frustrate me in the beginning, but I think that's the point.  You want to hate him, but he is written in a way that makes it impossible because even though you don't totally understand his actions, you slowly start to realize there is more to him than is necessarily coming across.  His actions slowly start to give away his true intentions and while Keegan has no clue what it all means you do and thus you find yourself begging for Keegan to open her eyes and see what she missing out on!

When these two finally collide prepare for fireworks!  Stacy Borel definitely nailed the dominate male role in the bedroom!  I'm telling you what...it was explosive!!!  I loved these two characters and I really think they complimented each other nicely.  Yes, the story may have been predictable and while I still have no idea why Camden really even needed a roommate I totally enjoyed the experience of reading this story.  I'm looking forward to the next books in the series, and hope we get to have a sneak peak in them of this couple because they're going to be hard to top!

SYNOPSIS
I always thought I was going to end up marrying Lucy, the woman I loved with my entire existence. Unfortunately, the woman staring back at me, readying to say our vows wasn’t the blue-eyed woman I loved. She was the woman who was chasing after my best friend, but we somehow ended up on the damn altar in a church in Madrid.

Lucy gave up on me you see. Love and hate were both shone in her eyes when she pleaded for me to cancel this farcical union. All I needed was for her to say it—for her to tell me that she loved me. But what did she do? She walked away…for the second time.

That truly gutted me. I knew then that she would never choose me, nor would she fight for me—or for the love we once so profoundly shared.

But seeing her again in Rome months later twisted me inside out, because time didn’t make my feelings ebb away. In fact, it was rotting in me, slowly poisoning everything I once cherished, loved and believed.

Could I risk myself again? Or should I just let bygones be bygones and walk away just as she had done?
