I have to confess, when I opened this book I wondered how I was going to feel about it. I absolutely adore the Eagle Elite series and the characters. It is by far the best mafia series out there. But the last couple of books, while great, did not hit me with as much emotion and impact as some of the earlier ones. But then I opened Debase. And damn, Andrei Petrov.

Andrei is probably the darkest character that Rachel has written about in the mafia. Don't get me wrong, they are all ruthless and have their own issues, but they are still fun loving and funny. I know it sounds weird but it works. But Andrei was different. He had some serious issues and I was heartbroken for him and the more I learned the more I wanted to help him.

Girl Six Thirty Two is one of the best female characters as well. She has her own set of things she has gone through and being born in a family is a big part of it. But I just love her strength and tenacity. I loved watching the story of these two unfold. Even though this book is intense, it is amazing and you won't be disappointed that you read it. Well done, Rachel!

4.5 out of 5 stars

I just LOVE everything about the Spy Girl series. I love the main character Huntley, I love the mysterious plot line and every ounce of suspense that comes with constantly trying to figure out the the end game. It's utterly addicting. The Phoenix dives right into the continuation of Huntley's story and honestly it never slows down. Major plot lines are revealed, character identities are answered and the mystery still continues. It's like solving a puzzle and this book gives you almost all the pieces but in the end it's really just enough to keep you coming back for more.

Huntley's strength and passion continue to amaze me. She has grown so much as a person, not only does she follow her instincts but she hardly every jumps to the wrong conclusion. She is very careful to examine things from all angles before making a decision, but what if even after doing all that she still doesn't see the end game? What if she isn't able to save Montrovia? Part of me wonders if at the end of this mission the real lesson was learning one person alone cannot be responsible for Montrovia's safety but instead it comes from trusting the right people, depending on the people you love and working together? It's just one theory running through my mind as to what we will find in book #7.

Jillian Dodd throws us readers some serious curve balls with The Phoenix. The rumors are all true - yes this book ends on a cliffhanger, yes characters die and yes you will be nervous about book #7 because I have real fears things are going to get even worse for Huntley before this mission is over. This series is awesome, full of interesting characters you will find yourself wanting to live vicariously through and mystery in spades! Thank you Jillian for this guilty pleasure, I for one love it!!
Review
4.5 out of 5 stars

I have to admit I loved this one! It was a classic Rachel Van Dyken book. The perfect amount of angst, humor, chemistry and drama all rolled into one HEA. Rachel is one of my favorite go to authors, mainly because she seems to nail it every single time.

Mackenzie is left at the alter on her wedding day - sure she's upset but not in the way you'd expect. Fast forward several months and in the hopes of self re-discovery she's off on her honeymoon alone. Here's where Slade Rodriguez comes into the picture and I have to say this meet cute was absolute perfection!

These two connect on a deeper level than either would expect, but to say it's a short lived romance would be putting it mildly. Here's where the story gets juicy! Yes, I could give you a play by play but I'm not because this story is one that deserves to be read and experiences first hand!

I loved watching Mackenzie work through her struggles and watching her grow. From beginning to end it was a beautiful transformation of a character who's been incredibly lost become a strong independent women, who yes would love the support of the man she's in love with, but who finally not only knows what she wants but also has the courage to fight for herself.

Slade is broody, exhausted with the circus that's his life and so angry he honestly cannot stand himself. But underneath all this is this amazing book boyfriend who's passionate and caring - and let's not forget his looks, basically he's the total package.

They are both lost in their own circumstances but together they make one heck of a couple. Risky Play is going to be one of those RVD book's you're absolutely going to want to read again and again. Such a fun escape - thanks Rachel - this is why we all love you so much!!!
Whitney Gable is the kind of woman you fight to the death to protect.
To keep.
To cherish.
I’ve finally learned my lesson, and it’s time to prove I’m the man who’s worthy of her.
I don’t care what it takes, because failure is not an option.
No matter who or what stands in our way—this time, she’ll be mine forever
Review
5 out of 5 stars

Meghan March the queen of twists you never see coming! How is it possible one author can continue to surprise me with the twists and turns of every single plot in every single book she has written? Nevertheless I love it and I'm going to keep coming back for more and more. I mean clearly Whtney and Lincoln are going to end up together - they are destined to be together. That much was obvious and the journey in all three of the books in this series never for one second disappointed. What I loved so much about the final installment is we finally get to see Whitney and Lincoln actually team up, trust one another and truly fight for their own HEA. It was pure perfection. Their characters have grown, evolved and they've finally realized they are stronger together than they are apart. I'm also going to commend Meghan's ability to cross over character's from other series into each other. No one else I've ever read has been able to do is as seamlessly.

This series isn't just a second-chance romance. It's so much more. It's drama and chaos with twists and turns. Kind of like a soap opera where characters lie to one another, where you believe one person is so good only to find out you really don't know them as well as you think you do. It truly encompasses all aspects of family relations from love and protection to drama and surprise. I could go on and on but Meghan March's books are the kind of stories enjoyed best when you go into them with as little knowledge as possible. Just one click, sit back, get sucked into the story and let you own reality slip away.
A New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had.

From USA Today bestselling author Jillian Dodd comes the fifth book in a sizzling series filled with action and adventure. Fans of The Selection and The Hunger Games will discover a heart-pounding thrill ride of espionage and suspense set in glittering high society.
Review
4.5 out of 5 stars

Thank goodness this book is finally out! I have a love hate relationship with cliff hangers. I love how they leaving me wanting more while at the same time find myself frustrated with having to wait what feels like forever for the next installment to release. I couldn't wait to jump right in and see what would happen with Lorenzo and Huntley now that the Queen announced, without warning, an engagement between Lorenzo and Lizzie. Secretly what I most hoped were these two characters wouldn't go back to square one. I really didn't want to see their character regress. I won't give it all away but I'm pleased to say not only was I not disappointed but I really think Lorenzo and Huntley managed to strengthen their bond.

While the pace of this book never slows down I found myself reading slower than my normal pace. Partly due to wanting to savor my time with these characters and partly because I found myself even more engrossed with the "spy" part of the story. I think in some of the previous book within this series I've felt lost or even overwhelmed but I think having Huntley go "rogue" and work through all the details in her mind helped me get a better grasp of all the different players in this mission.

The Dauntless is a page-turner filled with lots of surprises, and honestly a lot of love and I'm not just talking about the romantic kind. Boundaries are established and then their pushed. We're introduced to a new character and we even get to know a couple of regular ones on a deeper level. You're constantly trying to figure out who can be trusted, whose the enemy and what's their end game. Of course by the time you reach the end you're left with another pretty crazy cliffhanger - one I never even saw coming. But it's one I think is going to take this series to the next level. Well done Jillian Dodd! I don't know how you keep dreaming up these stories but I hope you never stop! Romance Rewind Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10414465824223332187noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6505569209015236888.post-74541068844236691902018-10-02T15:07:00.000-04:002018-10-02T15:07:17.358-04:00Review: Dangerous Exes, by Rachel Van Dyken
In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken’s scorching series, revenge is a justified pleasure…

Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot—and bothered.

Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!

Actually…could it be?

Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

Review:

4.5 out of 5 stars

We loved the first book in this series, Dirty Exes, so as soon as the widget for book 2 arrived in our inbox I immediately downloaded it and managed to devour it in one sitting. I'm more than happy to report this one is equally good if not better!!!

Jessie and Isla couldn't be more different and as much as they want to hate and destroy one another their undeniable chemistry manages to thwart their best laid plans. Jessie and Isla are both strong characters, yeah they each have a few hang-ups but overall they are easily likeable and you just cannot help but root for them as a couple.

It's a story full of pranks, lough-out loud moments, a crazy aunt, a good dose of angst with a side of drama. You won't be able to put it down and when the last page is turned you're going to be grinning from ear to ear. It's a happily ever after, but the journey from beginning to end is the best part.

To say Guilty As Sin is explosive is an understatement. The one thing I love most about Meghan March is her ability to mix drama, angst, sexiness and sweetness all into one book. I love Lincoln and Whitney's characters and the things you discover in book 2 will cement that even more for you.

I am still trying to get over the ending. If you don't know by now that Meghan March is the absolute Queen of Cliffhangers, you better strap in, this book is a roller coaster ride for sure.

If there is one thing Meghan March is an expert at, it is getting you hooked from the beginning of a book. Richer Than Sin is no exception. From page one, I was in deep. Richer Than Sin is told in alternating POV from Lincoln and Whitney and is also told in the present and past. Not many authors can seamlessly do that, but no surprise, this book flowed perfectly.

Whitney Gable is such a relatable character. She left her small town to escape and live the dream, but now is coming home and wants to hide from the world. She has such great qualities but can't seem to see them in herself. And her past isn't helping. Lincoln Riscoff and all Riscoff's for that matter, are her sworn enemies. Think Hatfield and McCoys, they can't be friends and they certainly can't be anything more. But there is always an underlying attraction.

Lincoln is set to inherit his families multi-million dollar lumber company, assuming his grandfather actually leaves it to him. He has proved his worth time and time again, but he won't give his grandfather the one thing he wants-an heir. Why? It's complicated to say the least. But when Whitney Gable heads back home, all bets are off. Whitney is the one that got away, but she won't get away this time if Lincoln can help it.

Now, if you're a fan of Meghan March, you know that this book ends on a cliffhanger, that is her style and I love it. Except for when I have to wait to read the next book. I cannot wait to see more of the Sin series when the next book releases! Run, don't walk, and get this book NOW. You will love it!

I am not 100% sure, but I almost did not want to read this one for fear it would make me not want to keep going. I am so happy to say that this book reminded me so much of some previous EE books that I am excited to read the next one!

Vic is Nixon's cousin and swore an oath to protect the 5 families. The oath included celibacy and that he would never have a family. No big deal at the time, and he has become the best bodyguard for the EE families. Until the Nanny comes into the picture. He is so screwed.

Renee Cassani knows her dad is part of the mafia and can't wait to escape this life when she finishes her final year of college. All she has to do is make it through her summer job, being a nanny to the scariest mobsters around. Shouldn't be hard, right?

I really enjoyed the character development of Vic and Renee. Their story is fun and somewhat light hearted compared the the previous book and that made me happy. But it also lays the groundwork for the next book in the EE series. While I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next one, I am unsure how many more books will continue to work for this series. I love it and part of me doesn't' want it to end, while the other wants it to end before more characters I love die.

Quinn isn’t going to be an easy character for a lot of people to

Or at least the ones that work in my kitchen. Fine, one man in particular. Wyatt Shaw is cocky and condescending and so far out of his element that he doesn’t know which way is up. Or how to run his brand new kitchen all by himself.

That’s where I come in. Sous chef extraordinaire. Second in command. Bane of his existence. I am the reason Wyatt’s doing so well as the new executive chef of one of our city’s most prestigious restaurants. He has me to thank for his glowing accolades and five-star write-ups. Only if you were to ask him, he’d say I’m his biggest problem.

If you have read the first two books in this series, you've already been introduced to Wyatt Shaw. I loved his character in the other books and was excited to see more of him in The Problem with Him. As you remember, Wyatt has taken over the Executive Chef role at Lilou since Killian and Vera are opening their own restaurant. The Wyatt that is EC is totally different that the other books. He is more stressed out and is having a hard time finding time for everything. And he is a tyrant to his staff, especially his Sous Chef, Kaya Swift. But there is more to this tyranny than meets the eye.

Kaya is from a small NC town. I relate to that aspect perfectly since I am from rural NC as well. But she dreams of more out of her life that the ideal small town life. She is driven and passionate about food. And she is a dang great chef and she knows it. She is jaded and feels like she should have been given the opportunity to be EC at Lilou as well. And she hates Wyatt Shaw. He makes her life miserable.

This book was really well written and I enjoyed the sparring matches between Wyatt and Kaya. The drama was really to a minimum and there was a good pace to the book that felt like it was worth savoring. While I did not love it as much as the first two books in the series, you really can't go wrong with anything Rachel Higginson writes. So go ahead and one click this one, you will really enjoy it.

Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later?

Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.

Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.

Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

Review: 5 of 5 Stars

I have been in a slight slump lately with reading. I have devoured another series and nothing has really come close to making me happy since those books. Then Dirty Exes arrived on my Kindle. And I am not going to lie. I was a little scared to read it. You see, I love Rachel Van Dyken but I don't always feel blown away after reading one of her books. The last one I read, was okay but nothing like I really wanted and expect from her. Nonetheless, I opened Dirty Exes and immediately kicked myself for waiting 2 weeks to read it. It. Was. Perfect.

Blaire Hunter, Ian Hunter's sister, from Wingmen Inc. is the heroine in this book and the first time you meet her she is in a sewer with a camera. She is a woman scorned and well, we all know that hell hath no fury. Her ex-husband and best friend ruined her life and she can't get over it or forget it. But she does always reminisce and think about Jessie, the one person she can never forget. But when he suddenly becomes the target of an investigation what will happen? Oh and Jessie has a hot best friend that has suddenly decided to aid Blaire in this investigation. Colin probably makes this book for me. He is so much fun and really forces both characters to look at things in a different light.

Jessie is obviously in a miserable marriage. You will know that the first moment you meet his wife. Then out of the blue, the one girl that got away is back in his life. How can Jessie pursue Blaire while remaining loyal to a woman he can't stand until he can be finished with her. It is a tangled web that we weave in life when we want something. And even the most ethical people can struggle with it. Will Blaire possibly understand how cheating could happen even with the best people?

Truthfully, you need to get this book. It is one of the best Rachel Van Dyken books I have read in a really long time. It is real, not over the top. The humor is there but it is not far fetched. The characters are real and easy to connect with as you read. And really, I loved every moment of this book. I have not one bad thing to say. It was amazing!

I don't always read the synopsis of books, in fact, most times I don't. It was by pure chance that I read this one on a Facebook post. Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favorite authors and I never really wonder if I am going to like or love her books. But when I read this particular synopsis and the words "reverse harem" were thrown around, it gave me pause. All that being said, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and opened to page one.

Shawn, is a transfer student from LSU. She is bi-racial and an athlete, she also just happens to have a boys name and gets stuck in a suite with 4 boys when she is in fact, a gorgeous woman. I mean it sounds ideal to be the one girl in a suite full of hot as sin men, but it has all sorts of drama and history associated with it. Not to mention the constant moans from across the hall that wake her up.

Knox, Leo and Finn are the "pleasure ponies" and they are constantly making anything with a pulse swoon. Slater is mad at the world and wants to keep them as far away from Shawn as possible. But in this crazy suite, things are not always what they seem. What you think is going on behind those doors is probably a long way from the truth.

I am not going to lie, I struggled with this book in the beginning. I felt like the premise was bit far fetched and I was just not into the multiple guys in a suite with a girl, regardless of the interaction. But in the end, I really enjoyed learning about the characters and what makes them tick, especially Knox and Slater. In my opinion, no one will be able to take the place of Ian and Lex in the original Wingmen series, but this book definitely had an intense and great ending that I enjoyed. If you want something different, unique and fun, I vote you give it a try!

The Consequence Series by Rachel Van Dyken has been an interesting ride. The characters in each book are unique in their own way. I loved Milo and Colt's story in the first book and have read all the books in the series.

Jason is Milo's brother and Colt's best friend. He has honestly had the worst luck in this entire series. He seems to have a black cloud that follows him around and if something bad is going to happen, it will happen to him.

Maddy Summers is Jason's high school sweetheart that walked out the door on him the day after he asked her to marry him. He never knew why or what happened but when she shows up back in town after 10 years, you can bet it is going to get interesting really fast.

Throughout all of these books, there is a lot of comedy and while I enjoy it, at times it is a bit over the top for me. I love Max's character, but sometimes he exhausts me and I am just reading about his plots, plans and antics. As always, if you love Rom-Com and hilarity and chaos, this book is the ticket. I am super happy with how it all worked out for Jason and I really enjoyed the journey to get there. Romance Rewind Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10414465824223332187noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6505569209015236888.post-11996410857620347312018-03-19T16:32:00.003-04:002018-03-19T16:33:05.772-04:00Review: The Valiant (Spy Girl #4), by Jillian Dodd

4 out of 5 stars

I was on pins and needles when the bomb went off in book #3 and then ended, leaving us wondering about Huntley and Lorenzo's potential demise! I mean if they had died there really wouldn't have been a need to continue the story so I felt confident they would make it but I was dying to know how Jillian would spin it. Let me just say she did it brilliantly!

So what did I love about this installment? Mainly Huntley and Lorenzo's relationship. It's like they are both finally on the same page, the same team and have the same goals in mind. They have finally freely admitted their feelings for one another and while Huntley is struggling to balance feelings she was trained to stay away from she continues to push through and choose love. I was so excited and felt all the "feels." She's a girl on a mission and I especially enjoyed the "treasure hunt." I think watching her re-live her memories left me feeling more connected to her character.

What I found myself frustrated with was trying to keep track of all the secondary characters and their back stories. Jillian, if you're reading this review, can we get a flow chart or something at the start of the next book with a little brief synopsis of where the previous book left off? I think because I read other books in between waiting on the new releases of this series I forget important details and then I spend the first several chapters trying to re-familiarize myself with the players and that takes away from really being able to focus on the important details and clues as the new material progresses. Maybe I should just re-read the previous book before I start the new release?!?!

I do wish Huntley hadn't reacted so quickly and stormed out at the first sign of trouble in paradise. I would have loved to of seen the two of them stand united, fight for one another and their relationship. I think they are stronger and better together and only hope they figure this out very quickly in the next book because I'd much rather see them stand together than apart.

Needless to say I love these characters and really do enjoy this series. I without a doubt recommend you take the plunge into this series yourself! It's full of mystery, love and seriously who wouldn't want to pretend they were living vicariously through this Spy Girl as they escaped their own reality?Romance Rewind Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10414465824223332187noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6505569209015236888.post-828607838502894472018-03-12T15:04:00.000-04:002018-03-12T15:04:12.876-04:00Review: Consequence, Book Two, The Confidence Game #2 by Rachel Higginson
Review:
4.75 out of 5 stars

From the moment I finished Constant, I was dying to get my hands on Consequence. I absolutely fell in love with Caro and Sayer and I had to know how their story ended. Without a doubt my love for mafia drama is what sucked me into this story from page one.

Consequence begins exactly where Constant ended. Juliet has been taken from day care and Caro and Sayer are hell bent on getting her back and exacting revenge on whoever is responsible. Intertwined in the present day drama are a lot of flashbacks from Sayer and his childhood and what occurred in his life. Some are the same scenes from Constant but with a totally different point of view.

Caro is still reeling from Juliet's kidnapping and is struggling with trusting Sayer. She definitely wants to blame him for a lot of things and her inability to see what I could through flashbacks was at times annoying to me. But, I realized I had the luxury of more information than she did, and so I tried not to let my aggravation with her waffling emotions keep me from liking her character. One of the things I loved most about Caro was her tenacity. She is strong, stubborn, smart and she loves with all she has. She is one heck of a mama bear and will always protect her child.

For me, Sayer is just about the picture perfect hero. Obviously he's hot as hell with a side dose of brooding and dangerous. But as much as he's dangerous at his core is also this deep sense of loyalty and protectiveness towards Caro as well as Juliet. While he's never had the luxury of meeting Juliet in person his parental bond to protect and get revenge is just as strong as Caro's.

I always worry when starting part 2 of a two book series that perhaps the second book will loose momentum, I was pleasantly surprised this one never lost it's pace. While I knew in my gut Caro could trust Sayer I loved watching the story play out and was pleasantly surprised to see some twists. Whether or not you as a reader like Caro or even agree with her dramatics one thing is for certain she loves Sayer, he is the only person for her and Sayer's heart will only always beat for Caro!
Mafia, Humor, Love, Betrayal and everything in between; it is the perfect mix of everything I love. While I was heartbroken at the end of Enrage for Chase, I also have to admit I have struggled with my connection to Mil in the last few books, and I felt as though he deserved better. Needless to say I was pretty excited to get my hands on Eulogy just to see how Rachel was going to spin his story.

I love the big mafia family that is EE. It goes without saying all the characters hold a special place in my heart and I am going to read every single book that comes out about them because my love for them and this series runs deep. Simply put, I'm committed. Eulogy's tone and mood are far darker than any of the other books in this series because Chase is basically out of control. And while I understand the reasons behind it, I missed the fun and carefree character I fell in love with in the beginning. I think what surprised me the most was just how unrecognizable Chase was to me and even to the other characters in the story. Even at the end when he found his redemption he just wasn't the same. Again, who would be after all that was Enrage, but for me it left me feeling so disconnected to his character.

Nikolai sends one of his naive, young and beautiful attorneys to the family with an offer she can't refuse. While I love Luciana and her character, I have to admit that some of this was fairly predictable, which I usually don't mind, but this time it felt to me Luciana fell to fast for Chase and it just didn't feel authentic. That being said, Chase needed someone who knew nothing of him, who would learn to trust him and would ultimately put him first, be willing to sacrifice for him, since Mil never showed Chase any of those feelings. True love is selfless, from both individuals and his relationship with Mil was always very one sided.

As per usual, there are lots of twists and turns and one completely unexpected part of the book. While Eulogy is probably my least favorite chapter of this series, I am still more than happy I invested the time into reading the book and I am very much looking forwards to the next installment. My new fear after finishing Eulogy is the more books that are written in this series, the less likely they are to live up to the first 5-6 and I don't ever want to lose my love for them. My hope for this series are for the stories to continue to go deeper while not loosing the love and familial bonds between the characters which makes this series addictive. I hope they always keep me interested and that I always love and feel connected to all the characters as I did when we were first introduced to them.

One thing I love is a good book full of mystery and suspense. It is rare to find a good one that keeps me guessing until the end. But, Keep Her Safe was just that for me. While I may have figured parts of the story out before the end, I did not get all the missing pieces. I love when I can't figure it all out and it makes me know it was extremely well written.

Keep Her Safe begins with Noah Marshall dealing with an enormous amount of grief and way more questions than answers after his mother, Jackie Marshall and Chief of the Austin Police Department's sudden death. And after all that Noah has been through when he gets a cryptic message from his mom he knows he has to follow her wishes.

Gracie Richards (Wilkes) was born in Austin, TX but after the death of her father and the fallout from his involvement with drugs and being a dirty copy her mom fled to Tucson with Gracie and never looked back. Even though she can barely remember her dad, her mom is obsessed with Texas and keeping up with the drama in Austin, to the point that all she cares about is that and getting strung out.

When Noah shows up on her trailer door step with lots of unanswered questions, the two are thrown together to see if they can figure out the mystery that drove both their parents to death. I love Noah and his southern gentleman charm and I love how you can feel his internal struggle with so many things throughout the book. Gracie is jaded and tough on the outside but still vulnerable too. They are the perfect combination for each other.

The book is told in multiple points of view and in the past and present. Not many authors can pull of alternating two POV but to pull of four is pretty amazing. I really felt like I connected with all of the main characters, Noah and Gracie in the present and Abe and Jackie in the past. The book was a puzzle that I was working to figure out in my mind along with the characters. I enjoyed every second of it. Definitely one click this one, you won't be disappointed.

Pro footballer Miller Quinton would do anything for his best friend and teammate—including “fake dating” his friend’s sister. What no one knows is that seven months ago in Vegas, Miller and Kinsey did a whole lot more than just kiss. Miller knows that this cheerleader is off-limits to him and any guy on the team. Still, he can’t stop himself.

Kinsey’s whole world is on the verge of crumbling. Her dad has cancer. Her overprotective brother is falling apart. Dating Miller may be a fake-out, but he’s the one guy who can make her forget about everything—including all the reasons she stayed away from football players. With each heated moment, Miller feels more like a safe place…even though he’s not safe at all.

Now temptation is testing every rule in the game of love. But how long can they go on playing when winning is a harder goal than either of them imagined?

I never really thought I would enjoy a sports themed romance novel. I don't really care about football at all, but I adore Rachel Van Dyken and I liked book one, Fraternize. This review will contain spoilers to book one, so read the rest at your own risk. I was ready to give Infraction a chance. I wanted to see what happen to Miller and Kinsey since I like their characters in book one.

Miller Quinton was introduced during Fraternize when he was part of a love triangle, vying for the affection and love for Emerson, his high school sweetheart. He was the loser of that triangle and honestly, I was glad because I felt like Emerson and Grant were meant to be. Miller is a great guy, but he was trying to force something in book one because he thought it was right, but life has a way of making sure you get what you really want.

Kinsey and Miller hooked up at the end of Fraternize, but let's be honest; no one wants Jax, her overprotective, perfect QB, brother to lose it so they don't date or even look at Kinsey. But when Jax asks Miller to "fake date" his sister to protect her from an ex boyfriend, things are about to get interesting. I absolutely love Kinsey and her spirit. She is kind but fiery and I love what she brings to the story.

I was not prepared for this book. At all. I loved it from page one and my love just kept growing. I knew it would be a great story about Miller and Kinsey but I was unprepared for the story that unfolds with Jax and his personal life, as well as their relationship as siblings. There were times I laughed out loud while reading, and others where I was sobbing. It was truly a fantastic read. I highly recommend that everyone read this series!

Caro Valero is introduced to us as a child stuck with a father involved in the Russian mafia. She is a brilliant liar and pickpocket even at the young age of 10. While she hates what she is forced to do, she also understands that she has to play the game until she able to run. Caro is one of the strongest characters I have read. I love her for her strength, resolve, resilience and mostly her wits.

Sayer Wesley is brought into the story as a young, homeless street kid. He is stubborn but soon learns that he must also play the game to survive...thanks to a tip from Caro. He excels and quickly moves up the ranks in the mafia and is loyal to his brothers. And his love for Caro is unwavering too...but which is more important and valuable to him..the mob or her?

I love this story from page one until the end. I wasn't completely sure if I would enjoy it because I have never really read a lot of suspense or crime in this authors books, but she pulled it off flawlessly. Rachel Higginson wove the perfect story with flashbacks and present day events. The characters are perfection and the story is amazing. I am on complete pins and needles waiting on book two, Consequence, to release in February. Be sure you one click this one today, you won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed the previous books in The Bachelors of Arizona series by Rachel Van Dyken and I was excited to get started on Brant's story. While the other Wellington Brothers entertained me and I loved them, I was really anxious to read more about Brant. He definitely had the most history and the most intriguing story that I wanted to know.

When you meet Brant you see that he is an alcoholic that is trying to fill a void with a different woman every night-he has a history. And that history is the ex-wife Nikki he can't forget. Life dealt them some terrible blows and instead of facing it together, Brant did not know how to deal.

Nikki has been struggling with getting over Brant as well. And once Grandma Nadine gets involved, all bets are off. The unique thing about Nikki? She is blind. I work for an ophthalmology group, so I think for me, this characteristic hits especially close to home. Nikki is a great person and she is determined to keep moving. She is a survivor and I love that.

As for their love story, it is really well thought out and I enjoyed reading every minute. I mean, we all know that when Grandma Nadine is involved she is going to win and love will prevail, but I love to see the journey to get there. Great book, Rachel!Romance Rewind Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10414465824223332187noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6505569209015236888.post-25276987267424860552017-11-13T09:03:00.000-05:002017-11-13T09:03:16.223-05:00Review: Love (The Keatyn Chronicles #12), by Jillian Dodd

I fell in love with the Dark Ones Saga and in particularly Mason from the first book. He has always been my favorite character because of his complexities. He is a wolf that deprives himself of anything good because of the guilt he feels over losing his first mate. He has such a complicated and wonderful backstory and I just knew that I would love reading about it.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. I love the relationship that Serenity and Mason have and how it has to come full circle. But mostly, I love that Mason got the story he deserved. My only complaint if you will, is that this story is fast paced and I found myself having to re-read parts of it to fully understand what was happening. The Dark Ones Saga is a wonderful series, but I think I would have enjoyed this book even more if I had a refresher course prior to reading it. As always though, fantastic read from Rachel Van Dyken.

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.”

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Poignant and powerful, Without Merit explores the layers of lies that tie a family together and the power of love and truth.
Review

5 out of 5 stars

I am always a little terrified when I open a CoHo book. I know it seems weird, most people will open their kindle as soon as it arrives and tear into it. Not me. I have to work up to opening it up. It's not that I am scared it is going to be bad. I know its not - they never are! Colleen Hoover at her worst is still better than most books out there. She just has a knack for pulling you in to her stories. But I am always scared to read her new releases, fearing it won't live up to my unrealistic expectations. LOL!

I typically go into books blind. I rarely read a synopsis if I know and love the author. Without Merit was no different for me. From her first introduction I instantly fell in love with Merit Voss. She is the epitome of a perfect character - quirky, flawed, funny, witty and wonderfully human. And it's not just her it's her entire family of supporting characters.

This isn't one of those reviews where you're going to find any pertinent details of the story or really even any kind of a synopsis. All you need to know is this story is truly one of a kind and you will not be disappointed in any way. Without Merit has a YA feel but it's not all rainbows and unicorns, this story tackles some pretty heavy themes, but it's handled with really beautiful storytelling as the author peels away layer after layer revealing what's beyond the surface. The pace is perfect, not rushed at all. It's a gradual build-up where seemingly insignificant moments are muddled with life changing ones. Colleen Hoover thru the Voss family really shows just how life altering perspective can truly be. Simply put I loved reading this book, it reminded me all over again why I first feel in love with Colleen Hoover as an author. She know's exactly how to string together a bunch of words that will have readers laughing and crying and feeling as though their life has been changed just because they spent money on a book for a pastime they love.

Fifteen years ago I met Sayer Wesley. I fell in love with him. I promised I would never leave him. I swore nothing could break us apart.

Five years ago I broke my promise. I ran away. I took the one secret that could destroy us both and disappeared.

I knew it was impossible. Sayer was locked away, serving a deserved sentence in federal prison. He couldn’t find me.
