Review
4.25 out of 5 stars

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the conclusion to the White Lies Duet – I always love how Lisa Renee Jones leaves us hanging at the best moments.  While I didn’t suspect Faith was capable of killing anyone nor did I think she was anyone’s “problem” I was beside myself wondering who was behind the supposed murder of her and Tiger’s parents.  I also found myself anxious to see how big of a hole Nick would dig himself into and how his original motives for getting close to Faith would come to light.

Lisa Renee Jones definitely didn’t disappoint in the identity of the murderer, and while I had a hunch I will admit I was super surprised at all the parties who were involved.  Overall I enjoyed the conclusion and I really think Nick and Faith make a great couple.  They truly complement and challenge one another in the best way possible.  However, all these positives aside the overall pace of the book felt a little slow to me.  I found myself frustrated these two characters seemed to be having the exact same conversations over and over.  Can I trust him?  What if he hurts me?  What isn’t he telling me?  Will she leave me?  I want to tell her the truth but now’s not a good time.  It’s as if their inner dialogue was on repeat and I worried their relationship would be doomed before it even really got off to a good start.

I will say though Nick truly surprised me with his determination to break down Faith’s walls and his ability to embrace the fact he was falling head over heels in love with her and was prepared to literally do whatever it took to protect and win back her heart.  I love seeing a man be a man, step up to the plate and take charge.  I also love it when a strong woman chooses to let a man take care of her because it’s in the choice to let go that we see just how much she has fallen in love as well.

As always I love a good romance mixed with suspense and mystery and Lisa Renee Jones does this genre so well.  If you haven’t read one of her masterpieces yet you’re missing out!

Review: Provocative (White Lies Duet, #1), by Lisa Renee Jones

There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existences, that embed in our minds forever, and sometimes our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us.

The moment I walked into Sonoma’s Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments. Provocative because I know at least one of her secrets, of which, I suspect she has many. Provocative because she believes I was a stranger to her when we met, but I am not. Provocative because I sought her out, with no intention of touching her. But now I have. Now I want her. Now I have to have her. But that changes nothing. It doesn’t change why I came for her.

I never really considered myself a fan of romantic suspense, but then again that was before I had ever picked up a Lisa Renee Jones book.  My first LRJ book, If I Were You, book #1 of her Inside Out series hooked me from the very first chapter and from that point on I've considered myself a fan of the genre.  Every single time I've picked up one of her stories I've fallen hook, line and sinker!  I have devoured my way through series after series of her work, and I can assure the White Lies Duet is everything I've come to love and expect when I pick up one of her masterpieces. It's been at least a week since I finished this one and I am still trying to decide who I think is innocent and dying to know what happens next.  You see LRJ is the master of leaving you always yearning for more.  It's brilliant actually because it's a guarantee you're going to buy the next book because you HAVE to know what happens, you crave the truth - and the suspense - it's utterly addicting.

Faith Winter is an artist at heart but is stuck running a winery since the death of her parents.  While she still mourns her father, her less than stellar relationship with her mother and the resentment she feels towards her are keeping Faith from moving forward in life.  She hasn't felt even a mustard seed of inspiration and therefore hasn't felt the urge to pick up a paint brush in months.  Add to that the bill collectors who are at every turn and threatening to take away her father’s legacy Reid Winter Winery and our heroine finds herself in a desperate situation, afraid to let her guard down.

Nick “Tiger” Rogers is a well known attorney who “rips the throats out” of his opposition.  He is stubborn, rich and never loses.  What begins as Nick secretly investigating Faith for the murder of his father and her mother quickly turns into him searching for her innocence and not guilt.  But when all their secrets come out will they still care for each other?  Can love conquer all, even forgiveness? I'm personally dying to know what really happened - who was behind the death/murders and their underlying motivation.

The sparks between Faith and Nick fly from their first introduction.  Their chemistry is undeniable and what starts as a hard limit one night stand quickly turns into so much more than either one was prepared for.  With each chapter the plot thickens and as always, Lisa Renee Jones weaves mystery, love, suspense and more into a wonderful story.  I only wish I didn’t have to wait until July to find out the conclusion!

Review: Surrender (Careless Whispers #3) by Lisa Renee Jones

Chris and Sara from Inside Out return in the explosive finale to Ella's story from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones with the third book in the sexy, suspenseful Careless Whispers series.

Passion burns fiercely hot between Ella Ferguson and Kayden Wilkens, the man who held secrets and lies in his hands, and then allowed them to fall into hers. But even though he has become her anchor—helping her recover from amnesia after finding her unconscious in an alley, and allowing her into his secret world—all is not what it seems. Kayden still has secrets, and pieces of Ella's past are still shrouded in the darkness of her mind, while the powerful man who hunts her will not stop until she is his. In this final, explosive novel in the Careless Whispers series, Ella discovers that while her life with Kayden didn't begin in that dark alley...it could easily end there.

It is no secret around the blog that we LOVE Lisa Renee Jones.  In fact, Denial, the first book in this series was one of our top books in 2015.  We are huge fans of the Inside Out series and knew part of Ella's story from that series.  But we really found out what was going on when the first book Denial released.  Once we realized the mystery surrounding her disappearance and were introduced to Kayden Wilkens we were hooked.  Obviously, you need to read these books in order.  So if you haven't read the first two in the series, kindly go one click them first!  And get the Inside Out series as well if you haven't read it.

Surrender picks up where Denial left off.  Ella is continuing to regain parts of her memory but it appears as if she is subconsciously blocking pieces as well.  Kayden is the leader of the Underground, an elite group of treasure hunters that have many resources to help Ella.  But what will happen if she is actually a part of the CIA and they are supposed to be enemies?  It seems the more information Ella remembers the more she wishes she didn't remember.  Meanwhile Kayden and Ella's bond continues growing stronger and more than anything Ella want's to believe that whoever she really is, whatever her background truly is that when the truth finally comes out she and Kayden's relationship will be not be affected, only stronger.  She loves this man and above all else she wants to spend her life with him...swoon!

Sara and Chris make an appearance in this final book and we couldn't be happier!  But Ella is extremely worried that her best friend is going to get caught in the cross hairs of the French and Italian Mafia.  I for one loved seeing the two series crossover, it was such a fulfilling experience seeing everything come full circle.

This intense book is a race to find a rare 3 Billion dollar butterfly necklace while weaving memories into the present.  It is a roller coaster ride of emotions trying to unravel the secrets and determine who she can actually trust.  Ella struggles with trusting her gut while having flash backs.  Even I was doubting characters who I felt solid about in the previous two books! Lisa Renee Jones excels at keeping her readers hooked taking them down pathways you never really see coming.  It was the perfect conclusion to an fantastic series.  Don't delay, one click and enjoy the mystery, intrigue and love story that only Lisa Renee Jones can execute!

Review: Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones

Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in the smoldering, scorching first novel in the explosively sexy new Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

How bad do you want it?

The only man within the Brandon empire with a moral compass, Shane Brandon is ready to take his family's business dealings legitimate. His reckless and ruthless brother, Derek wants to keep Brandon Enterprises cemented in lies, deceit, and corruption. But the harder Shane fights to pull the company back into the light, the darker he has to become. Then he meets Emily Stevens, a woman who not only stirs a voracious sexual need in him, but becomes the only thing anchoring him between good and evil.

Emily is consumed by Shane, pushed sexually in ways she never dreamed of, falling deeper into the all-encompassing passion that is this man. She trusts him. He trusts her, but therein lies the danger. Emily has a secret, the very thing that brought her to him in the first place, and that secret that could destroy them both.

Review:  4.5 of 5 Stars

Lisa Renee Jones always grabs my attention from page one of her books, and Hard Rules was no exception! I love the mystery and intrigue that she is so good at weaving into a story.

Hard Rules has some great characters, starting with Shane Brandon.  He is a typical alpha male that I expect when reading a LRJ book, but he has his own unique qualities, like all of her characters.  He is an attorney who made it big in NYC, but had to return to Colorado to bail his family out of legal trouble.  I cannot stand his family.  I don't trust any of them.  Shane is attempting to take over Brandon Enterprises from his father and brother, but it is not going to be an easy feat.

Emily Stevens is a wonderful heroine.  I adore her stubbornness and her spirit.  Life has definitely not been fair to her, but she is trying to make the best of it.  And day while getting coffee she a chance encounter introduces her to Shane Brandon.  Fate is at work for these two because they can't seem to stay away from each other.  As their lust takes over, they become more to each other than they ever imagined.  They are destined for more than a one night stand.

I finished this book several days ago and I am still reeling from it.  I am dying to know what Emily is hiding and how it is going to intersect with Shane.  Will they be able to move forward?  Is it a deal breaker as she believes?  I just need to know!  Come on February!  How will I be able to wait that long to read Damage Control, Book 2?!?!

Review
5 out of 5 stars

I'm a fan of Lisa Renee Jones, and it seems with each book of hers that I read the bigger of a fan I become.  I LOVED this Inside-Out Series and therefore I knew of Ella through her friend Sara.  Like Sara ,throughout the series I too wondered how she could disappear so mysteriously.  So needless to say when the ARC of this book arrived on my doorstep I put everything else on hold and dove right in.  I guess it's safe to say I love a good mystery!

When we meet Ella she is just waking up to find herself in a foreign hospital, with no memory and in the company of a handsome, dream worthy man; so dreamy in fact she isn't sure whether or not he is real.  Kayden, however, is definitely not a figment of her imagination and as it turns out he might be the only person interested in claiming her, in figuring out why she was in the alley unconscious in the first place.  He may be her rescuer but I'm not sure he's the hero of this story and neither is Ella.

There is no doubt Ella is drawn to Kayden.  She senses a connection, like maybe they know one another, however he is adamant the night he rescued her from an apparent mugging was the first time they met.  Ella can sense Kayden's protectiveness of her, she is attracted to him and it appears as he is to her as well.  Ella's gut is telling her to trust him but her mind is cautiously warning to not let herself be made a fool.

Sometimes though the heart wants what the heart wants and before long Ella finds herself on the road to falling in love with Kayden, and honestly who can blame her I was on that same road!  He's strong, protective, possessive, mysterious and he seems to genuinely want to help Ella.  He always knows exactly what to say and the perfect way to communicate it.  He's a broody hot mess and there is no way Ella could help but fall for him.  She promises both Kayden and herself that she can handle his profession right along with his demons.  She needs someone to trust and even though her mind is fighting her heart it's a loosing battle because she needs someone to trust and she knows it's him she's already placed her trust in.  So, even though we are left with many unanswered questions and possible doubts of Kayden's motivation for helping Ella I cannot help but root for these two.

What I love most about a Lisa Renee Jones book is that she keeps me on my toes.  No doubt she has mastered the process of taking readers deeper into the mystery she is weaving while simultaneously throwing us clues as to what's really going on.  One minute you might find yourself a step closer to figuring out the answer or at least a possible theory only to be thrown a curve ball in the next chapter which pushes you two steps behind.  Its frustratingly brilliant and the end result is this stunning book you literally cannot put down!  Denial was nothing short of an amazing, intense 5 star read that commanded my attention from page 1 and quite honestly the book may be over but my mind is still reeling from the ending.  I am desperate for the next installment.

And as he tries to unravel the deep secrets of the past, he starts falling for her…only to discover she’s not what she seems.

Unable to trust anyone, Chad focuses on only two things: protecting his sister Amy and getting revenge. Is love even possible in the midst of heartache?

Excerpt
It’s nearly eight in the evening when I take the elevator to our secure, key-coded floor and enter the suite, where I immediately hear, “Chad! Is that you?”
Angry, I grab the chair in front of the door and shove it aside.
“Oh, thank God,” Gia gushes, flinging her arms around my neck. “You’re in one piece.”
Stunned by her greeting, by the way her sweet curves meld against me, I fight the heat rushes through me, untangling her grip and pressing her hands against the wall. “Tell me what you know about my sister,” I demand.
Nothing, Chad. I told you that. Is she—was she—”
“You know I didn’t find her.”
“I wanted you to find her. I was terrified for you.”
Anger expands in me, seeping into my veins, and on some level, I know it’s not about Gia at all, or maybe I just fear it will be about her. I don’t want to trust her and be wrong. “You barely know me.”
“I know you’re in pain. I know what being alone feels like, and I know that’s what you feel right now.”
Alone.
It’s a word that pierces my heart with guilt. It’s what I know my sister has felt for six long years. I was all she had, the only one she could count on, even if she didn’t know I was there—and I failed her. The pain is a seed that grows and expands inside me in an instant, and suddenly, or maybe not so suddenly, the idea of being betrayed by Gia is not as biting as the idea of failing her as well. My hands come down on her face, and I stare at her. “I have money and resources to hide you, and I promise you, no one will find you. But I won’t be there with you. I’m poison to anyone near me. You can’t forget that. I can’t forget that.”
I don’t give her time to reply. My mouth closes down on hers, my tongue pressing past her lips, stroking and stroking again, in what is instantly an aggressive, searching kiss. She moans, and I swear the sound of her moan shatters a piece of my soul that is already bleeding for my sister. In this moment, it feels like all I have left is this woman.
