Blog Tour and Review: Thoughtful by S.C. Stephens

Synopsis
In Thoughtless, Kiera told her story. Now it's time to hear from the sexy rock star who captivated us all . . .
The only place Kellan Kyle has ever felt at home is onstage. Gripping his guitar in a darkened bar, he can forget his painful past. These days his life revolves around three things: music, his bandmates, and hot hookups. Until one woman changes everything . . . Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting-smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction . . . until Kiera's own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided. Now, no matter the consequences, Kellan is sure of one thing-he won't let Kiera go without a fight.

Review
5 out of 5 stars

When I heard we were getting another Kellan Kyle book I couldn't have been more excited!  I mean seriously, who is going to say no to a book told completely from Kellan's perspective?  As Kellan fans this was our big chance to really see how, and why he fell for Kiera and all the consequences which came as a result of falling for your best friend's girlfriend.  A book solely focused on Kellan's story, without a doubt it was sure to be an opportunity for us to fall even deeper in love with an already favorite book boyfriend!

I am pleased to report S.C. Stephens does not disappoint with Thoughtless!  Fans of the original series, who simply want more Kellan or who want to re-live the original telling of part 1 through Kellan's eyes will love every single word of this book.  I know I did.  Quite honestly once I got to where Denny leaves Kiera and it's just Kellan and her alone in the apartment I absolutely couldn't put the book down.  Watching Kellan struggle with his feelings, struggle with admitting his love, and witnessing first hand the fallout each and every time Kiera goes back to Denny literally broke my heart.  When you hear the story from Kiera's POV and you see her justification for her actions and even though she drives you crazy and you know she is meant to be with Kellan if she would just be honest with herself, you can almost sympathize with her.  However, when you are hearing things from Kellan and you watch him get brave enough to go out on a limb for Kiera only to crash down again and again, left me struggling with my feelings for Kiera!  Don't get me wrong I still love these two, in fact so much so that when I finished Thoughtful I did a complete re-read of Reckless (my favorite of the series) just so I could spend time with the two of them!  I just wish each of them could have been honest from the beginning and save themselves some heartbreak, but then there wouldn't have been a story.

The journey these two go through to finally commit to one another allows them the opportunity to build a foundation which will quite literally get them through just about whatever else life will throw at them because in the end they know each other will fight for the relationship.  And isn't that what any of us want a partner who is willing to fight for our love and affection?  Who will go to great lengths to protect something sacred?

Thoughtful will draw you once again into the Kellan, Kiera, Denny love triangle and will not let you go until the emotional journey has come full circle.  You will feel as though you are part of the story and even though it's the same story as Thoughtless hearing it from Kellan definitely feels different.  I'll let you in on a little secret...I loved Thoughtful even more than I did Thoughtless!  But that being said I think if you haven't read this series you should absolutely read Thoughtless first, I don't know why but I feel hearing it from Kiera first is important and should be experienced first.  I think you have to see Kellan through Kiera's eyes before you can truly appreciate the story from his eyes, I think for me it paved the way for a deeper, emotional journey.  Thoughtful gives the series a more dimensional feeling, I thought it was complete before, but I was wrong.  Kellan's POV is what makes this story complete, well-rounded even.  Buy this book, read this book, fall in love with Kellan again, and prepare yourself for a story you won't want to end!  So the big question is are we going to get all the books from Kellan's perspective?  This blogger sure hopes so!!!!

Q & A with S.C. Stephens

Why set your books in Seattle?
I know the city, so I felt comfortable writing about it.

Were Kellan and the D-Bags inspired by a specific band?
Not one in particular. I was listening to a lot of OneRepublic, The Fray, and Linkin’ Park at the time, so they are sort of a mixture of all three bands.

How did you come up with the name?
It came about while I was writing it. I was doing the scene where Griffin is talking about the T-shirts, and once he said Douchebags, I knew that was it.

Many readers say Kellan was the first/favorite book boyfriend. What do you think appeals to readers about him?
I think it’s a mixture of his job, his past, his looks, his pain, and the fact that he is so incredibly devoted to the people he cares about.

Do you have any favorite book boyfriends of your own?
Edward Cullen will always be my favorite book boyfriend. Sigh. I love him.

What are five books on your night stand?
Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. Love, in English by Karina Halle. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken.
