I received an ARC copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review...

Nova Reed and Quinton Carter are two strangers suffocating from the scars of their past.  At one point in time their lives made sense, they felt alive, they had dreams and even knew what happiness felt like.  Unfortunately tragedy struck and knocked them off course.  Since then nothing has been the same, they're going through the motions just barely living.  Things change however when the two meet.  Neither one knows why but clearly being around each other brings feelings to the surface, feelings they don't necessarily know what to make of.  Will they continue down a destructive path or will they face their pasts and find a way to move forward---is that even a possibility?

The majority of this book has a very dark feel to it as Jessica Sorensen tackles some really heavy issues---depression, suicide, drug use.  Nova and Quinton are lost and incredibly broken.  My heart immediately was drawn to them.  I desperately wanted to save them.  I crossed my fingers hoping they would be able to get their lives back, find purpose, feel worthy, choose to both give and accept love.  Jessica Sorensen did an outstanding job creating two really beautifully broken characters who readers cannot help but get emotionally attached.

When you start this book you may thing you're just reading another new adult romance, but honestly this book was so much more.  It's really about Nova and her journey to finding herself and healing from her past losses.  Choosing to take her life in a different directing, being able to make difficult decisions and knowing when to walk away.  This book's journey was so much about Nova finding her inner strength.

Don't get me wrong the romance is there and Nova and Quinton definitely have chemistry and you know they are meant to be together, but they have a long road ahead of them before a relationship can seriously happen.  The demons claiming their lives will not be easily rid and honestly as readers we shouldn't expect anything less.  If this story was rushed it would feel forced and we would miss out on a pretty incredibly journey and love story.

Nova has put up some pretty strong walls but Quinton's unexpected presence in her life slowly chips away at those barriers eventually pushing her to face her past head on and forces her into a crossroads.  When someone impacts your life they won't easily be forgotten.

The ending is tough, it killed me, I desperately wanted to read more of their story.  Fortunately the next book should be out sometime early next year.  Thank goodness!  I HAVE to know what happens next. Breaking Nova is an absolute bargain for $.99.  It's a really great story with a surprising amount of depth.  One click your copy now.  Or add Breaking Nova to your Goodreads To Be Read List.

If you enjoy Breaking Nova as much as me go ahead an pre-order Nova #2, which is scheduled to be released February 4, 2014.
